In the world of digital payments, the prevalence of fraud schemes is on the rise. To address these challenges, ComplyAdvantage and Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) hosted a seminar at 80RR Fintech Hub SG, focusing on current fraud trends and strategies for detecting these risks on 18 September, 2024. 🌐

The session highlighted that Fraud can be divided into two different frameworks: one aimed at preventing clients from falling for scams and the other focusing on thwarting scammers from exploiting digital platforms.

Also shared was the current fraud prevention measures in social media. The approach to preventing often relies on reporting fraudulent accounts in hopes for actions to be taken, which can be inadequate. Moreover, private messaging platforms may also be rife with scam risks, since there is a vast ecosystem where scammers operate not just locally but across regions. Thus, anyone can be a victim of scams. 🚨

UOB and UOB FinLab held another session to explore new strategies for understanding disclosure summaries and incentives for decarbonization on 10 September, 2024 at 80RR Fintech Hub SG. 🌱

The Event also featured gprnt.ai who shared the importance of going beyond standard measures in fighting against climate change. They also highlighted their role in providing SMEs with the tools to meet global sustainability standards, respond to customer demands, and access new financing opportunities. 💡

In a new era of being more focused on understanding mental health issues amongst peers, TiE Singapore and Qapita took a significant step forward on 25 June, 2024. They addressed how leaders and founders can effectively tackle mental health challenges in the workplace.

A significant briefing was convened by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on 8 April, 2024, alongside Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) at 80RR Fintech Hub SG. Uncovered were the amendments to the Payment service Act and Services regulations, aiming to broaden the regulatory scope of payment services. These changes prioritize greater user protection and financial stability within the DPT services.

With these changes, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) will be able to enforce requirements relating to anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing measures, user protection and financial stability on DPT service providers.

Scheduled for implementation in stages, starting generally six months from April 4, 2024, these amendments mark a vital moment in Singapore’s financial regulatory landscape.

During the event, the Chintai platform was unveiled as DNZ Venture Global’s preferred selection for climate action tokenization, including carbon credits. Tokenization pilot projects were also demonstrated to highlight the benefits of using the Chintai Platform.

Three pilot projects were announced during the virtual live demonstration with Chintai's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Phillip H. including DNZ Venture Global's Climate Action Token, Blockchain Technology Center and Botanica The Valley.

Tokenizing real world assets has the potential to revolutionize the way we invest. It could make it easier for people to own a piece of real estate, art, or even a private jet. But it's still early days, and there are a lot of challenges that need to be overcome before tokenization can become mainstream.

The event was organized by the OBA Singapore Chapter Committee, including our very own member and University of Oxford alumni Monin Ung, and Chi Tsun Julian Lam from XYZ Impact and MUNG!

Five Web3.0 entrepreneurs and investors shared their thoughts, discussing female entrepreneurs' experiences and observations in Web 3.0, and the importance of a diverse ecosystem in Web3.0.

The Deal Fridays x FoodTech event on 26 August 2022 showcased startups providing sustainable and nutritious alternatives. Participants learned how technology can help scale food production capabilities in a sustainable manner, and connected with these innovative startups.

F10 Incubator and Accelerator kicked off the on-site program of 2022 K-Startup Center Accelerator Program Singapore with amazing Korean startups and founders in Fintech and Smart City.

Singapore Blockchain Week 2022, organised by the Blockchain Association of Singapore, was Singapore's premier Blockchain event. The week long event was where leading organisations and top minds in the Blockchain industry gathered to discuss and present the next key developments in the digital evolution.

The SFA RegTech Subcommittee organised a Business Speed Dating session, an extremely time-saving and effective way of making professional contacts. Participants embarked on a series of quick-fire encounters with the exhibitors and a bell or buzzer rings when each timed ‘date’ ended. Participants progressed from one table to the next, until everyone had a chance to meet each other.

This practical session by Singapore Fintech Association guided attendees through the process of building a strong communications strategy that supports their business goals, at all stages of a business.

This talked shared with attendees more about #regtech, explored solutions, and provided networking opportunitiues.

In the second edition of What’s Your Stance panel discussion series 2022, members of the SG Fintech Club explored what it truly means to be Green and Sustainable, and how current trends such as the Russia - Ukraine crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic have influenced the Green agenda of countries, whether carbon credits promote sustainability or create more greenwashing, as well as the environmental impact of blockchain technology. 

The F10 Singapore Incubation Batch 3 Demo Day took place on 21 April 2022 where 8 innovative startups, CakepLabs, Emlo Tech, Kryptonium, Lexikat, PLG Partners, Prānah, Syla and Tunibibi pitched their ideas in front of the F10 ecosystem.

The event was hosted by Lily Wu, Startup Partner Lead SEA from Stripe and there was a panel discussion with industry experts Andreas Zingg from Julius Baer, Chetan Karkhanis from Franklin Templeton, Amit Ghosh from R3 and Neil Thomas from SIX on the topic "Latest Innovation Initiatives in APAC".

As part of Swiss Weeks 2022 together with Embassy of Switzerland and selected partners, Zuhlke organised an exclusive Design Thinking Innovation Masterclass.

The Payment Services Bill was introduced and passed in Parliament on 19 November 2018 and 14 January 2019 respectively. At the commencement of the Payment Services Act 2019, the Payment Systems and the Money-Changing and Remittance Businesses Act will be repealed. Under the PS Act, the Monetary Authority of Singapore will regulate significant payment systems and the provision of payment services in Singapore.
